Youth Development Academy

The University of Missouri (MU) Youth Development Academy provides youth development professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead positive youth development programs in public, private or civic sectors.

Professional training teaches participants how to do the following skills:

  • Recognize and address developmental needs and strengths in youth
  • Identify and apply methods of non-formal education
  • Identify and work with under-served youth
  • Implement program planning and evaluation strategies
  • Understand, respect and work with all youth
  • Implement conflict resolution strategies
  • Create and strengthen youth and adult partnerships
  • Implement safety and risk management practices
  • Develop community partnerships and mobilize volunteers
