State Public Speaking Contest

The 2009 State 4-H Public Speaking Contest will be held Saturday, September 26th.  More details will be announced after county public speaking contests have completed.


Competitors are comprised of the winners of their local county public speaking contests.  Counties may send up to one junior competitor and one senior competitor per category, except Interpretation.  In the Interpretation category, counties may send one junior and one senior in each of the sub-categories (Dramatic, Pantomime, Humorous).
 

Public Speaking Competition Categories

Junior (ages 8-13) and Senior (ages 14-19) contestants may compete in up to 2 of the following categories:

  • Prepared Speech

  • Extemporaneous Speaking

  • Public Service Announcement (PSA)

  • Technology Assisted Speaking  

  • Interpretation: Can choose from three of the following sub-categories:

    • Dramatic

    • Pantomime

    • Humorous

To register for the State 4-H Public Speaking Contest and find out about local application deadlines, please contact the 4-H program at your county MU Extension offices.  Registration from counties must be received at the state 4-H office no later than August 15, 2009. 

 

Registration cost for 2009 is $10 per participant.  Lunch is on your own and there is no charge for family members who come to cheer you on!
