COLUMBIA, Mo. — Farmers and agribusiness leaders from across the state of Missouri gathered at the Lake of the Ozarks Dec. 19-21, 2014 for the 45th Annual Governor's Conference on Agriculture, hosted by Gov. Jay Nixon. The three-day event, which focuses on current issues in agriculture including technology, advocacy and youth involvement, featured a Friday evening BBQ, sponsored by FCS Financial, and an auction to benefit Missouri 4-H, FFA and ALOT.
Top-selling items for Missouri 4-H included a VIP Wine Tour and Tasting at Les Bourgeois, donated by Les Bourgeois Vineyards, and a 4-H quilt, hand-made by three inmates who participate in a Restorative Justice program at the Women's Easter Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Valdalia, Mo. Proceeds from the quilt will benefit Missouri 4-H Life, a nationally-recognized program created to address the needs of children with incarcerated parents.
