About the Foundation
The mission of the Missouri 4-H Foundation is to secure and manage financial resources to enhance and expand the Missouri 4-H program.

1949 Foundation Board membersIn October, 1949, a group of 4-H Club supporters established
the Missouri 4-H Foundation as a non-profit organization. Their
mission was to “best meet the needs and advance the interests of
4-H Club and older youth work throughout the state.” D. Howard
Doane chaired the first Foundation board with members
representing every part of the state.

As an independent organization separate from University of Missouri Extension, the Missouri 4-H Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by an elected board of trustees. We are proud to fulfill the dreams of our founders, and we are proud of you, our supporters.
Since 1949, thousands of individuals, organizations and businesses have generously invested financial support in 4-H. Through the wise use of these funds, we “make the best better” for Missouri 4-H’ers:
- Secure seed money for new projects, and funding for current programs
- Support statewide 4-H activities
- Establish 4-H college scholarships
- Sponsor volunteer 4-H leader training; and
- Recognize and honor 4-H volunteers, friends and supporters
