Sen. Munzlinger honored with Missouri 4-H Alumni Award

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Sen. Brian Munzlinger was honored with the 2016 Missouri 4-H Alumni Award by the State 4-H Council on March 18 in Columbia. Munzlinger was recognized for his commitment to the University of Missouri Extension 4-H youth development program.

“On behalf of the State 4-H Council, it is my honor to present Sen. Brian Munzlinger with the 2016 Missouri 4-H Alumni Award,” said State 4-H Council representative Holly Hatfield. “We are grateful to Senator Munzlinger for his years of dedicated service as a volunteer and supporter of Missouri 4-H.”

Sen. Munzlinger, a Republican and lifelong farmer, serves the 18th senatorial district in northeastern Missouri. Prior to his role in the Missouri Senate, he served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2002 to 2010.

Growing up in Lewis County, Sen. Munzlinger was a member of the Williamstown 4-H Club from 1966 to 1971, serving as president in 1971. As a 4-H volunteer, he served as a project leader for woodworking and shooting sports. He also served on the Lewis County Extension Council from 1982 to 1986 and as chair from 1983 to 1986. In 1986, he received the MU Extension Leader’s Honor Roll award.

Sen. Munzlinger is a 1978 graduate of the University of Missouri. He holds a bachelor of science degree in general agriculture and a teaching certificate in agriculture.

He and his staff are hosts for the annual 4-H Legislative Academy. He also supports several other 4-H and MU Extension programs.

The Missouri 4-H Alumni Award was established in 2000 by the State 4-H Council to honor outstanding Missouri 4-H alumni and their significant contributions to 4-H or the State 4-H Council.
