Development Director Don Henderson Retires

Missouri 4-H Foundation Development Director Don Henderson will retire June 30th, after serving the foundation and University Extension for 38 years. Henderson began his career in 1962 and held University Extension field and administrative posts, including Northeast Regional Director. In 1976, the Shelby County 4-H’er joined the National 4-H Council as director of nationwide 4-H staff development and training.
Henderson returned to his native state in 1995 to head the 4-H Foundation. During Henderson’s tenure as executive director, Missouri 4-H Foundation assets grew from one to five million dollars. In 2006, he became the foundation’s development director. Friends will find Don with his wife Melva at their Lake of the Ozarks home.
;We are indebted to Don for his service to MU Extension and Missouri 4-H. Don has had a tremendously positive impact on 4-H funding and programming that will serve current and future generations of Missouri 4-H members, families and volunteers well. We wish Don and Mel the best, and we hope that they will continue to be active members of the 4-H family in their retirement,” said Cheryl Reams, foundation executive director.
