COLUMBIA, Mo. — Debbie and Jason Parsons of Johnson County were honored with the 2017 Friend of 4-H Award by the Missouri 4-H Foundation on March 17 in Columbia. They were recognized for their commitment to the University of Missouri Extension 4-H youth development program.

“On behalf of the State 4-H Council, I am pleased to present Debbie and Jason Parsons with the 2017 Friend of 4-H Award,” said State 4-H Council member Mitchell Moon. “We are grateful to Debbie and Jason for their years of dedicated service to the 4-H program.”

Debbie and Jason Parsons have supported the 4-H program at both the county and state level for several years as club leaders for the Blackwater Bobcats 4-H Club and an adult advisors for the Johnson County 4-H program. They’ve each served on numerous committees, chaperoned hundreds of youth to local and statewide events and dedicated countless hours serving the 4-H program.

In 2016, the Parsons family established the Zachary Parsons Memorial 4-H Scholarship in honor and memory of their son, Zach, who passed away on February 15, 2016.

The Friend of 4-H Award was established by the State 4-H Council to recognize individuals who have demonstrated exemplary service to Missouri 4-H and the State 4-H Council.
