Recognition & Leadership

The Missouri 4-H Foundation offers recognition awards in honor of or sponsored by 4-H trustees, members and friends.

Numerous post-graduate study scholarships are available due to generous 4-H supporters.  The 4-H Foundation offers over fifty scholarships each ranging from $500 to $2,500.

Frank Graham Leadership Award
In recognition of Frank Graham, past director of Missouri 4-H Youth Programs, local volunteers can be recognized for their dedication to Missouri's youth.  Each county may honor one or two outstanding 4-H volunteers annually.

Missouri 4-H Century Family Award
The Missouri 4-H Century Family Award recognizes 4-H families with a long, sustained involvement in the 4-H program. Missouri 4-H Families with a combined 100 years or more of membership and/or volunteer service in 4-H are eligible to be recognized.

The award is coordinated by the Missouri 4-H Foundation and the 4-H Center for Youth Development. Recognition takes place on the county level.

Applications may be submitted at any time.  To be recognized during National 4-H Week of the current calendar year, applications must be by July 4th.

Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame
Missouri 4-H recognizes outstanding individuals for their service and dedication to 4-H by honoring them with membership in the Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame.  Each inductee (or their surviving family members if given posthumously) is recognized and presented with a plaque at the Missouri State Fair. Fellow club members, families and friends of the inductees are invited to attend.  The first induction ceremony was held in 2007.

One inductee will be selected per county. Inductees or their surviving family members will receive a letter of invitation on behalf of the Missouri 4-H Foundation in early July that will include details about the induction ceremony.

Counties will select inductees for their exceptional work in contributing to the lives of 4-H members and the overall 4-H program. Nominees may be:

  • Club leaders
  • Youth mentors
  • Fair superintendents or fair board members
  • Extension council members
  • County youth council members
  • Fair judges
  • Financial supporters
  • Chaperones
  • University of Missouri Extension staff members

Nelson Trickey Bridge Builder Award
Sponsored in honor of Nelson Trickey, this award is given annually to an individual, team of individuals, or an organization that works to provide opportunities for the integration of positive youth development into the local community or to the state of Missouri.

Naomi Crouch Leadership Award
The Missouri 4-H Foundation is pleased to sponsor the Naomi Crouch Leadership Award to recognize volunteers and businesses/organizations that have contributed their time and talents to Missouri youth through the 4-H Center for Youth Development.

The annual award is named for Naomi Crouch, a Clay County 4-H parent, volunteer and Missouri 4-H Foundation Trustee.  The statewide recognition is awarded to only two leaders and one business/organization each year.

Scholarships
The Missouri 4-H Foundation offers educational scholarships for 4-H youth and former 4-H members pursuing post-secondary study.  Sixty scholarships are available, each ranging from $500 to $2,500.

The Missouri 4-H Foundation and the 4-H Center for Youth Development recognize scholarship winners at the Annual Missouri 4-H Recognition Banquet held annually in the early fall.
