Dairy

State Specialist: Ben Gallup

Ice cream, cheese, and milk are a few of the great products that dairy cows produce. The dairy project is a fun way to learn about the management and care of dairy cattle and the many career opportunities in the dairy industry. Activities in this project will help you gain knowledge in learning proper feeding, health, selection, and marketing all within this project. You will also learn about the many dairy products and various uses of cow's milk.

Dogs

State Specialist: Ben Gallup

Who can resist those big brown eyes or that tail wagging to see you? If one of your best friends is a dog, then you will enjoy this project. Together you and your dog learn about dog obedience, grooming and nutritional aspects that will help your dog live a long and happy life. In the advanced levels you will learn how to teach your dog to retrieve, jump hurdles, drop on recall, broad jump and participate in showmanship contests. This is a fun way to spend time with your dog.

State Specialist: Ben Gallup

Demystify the “magic” of electric circuits, magnetism, motors and electronics. From building burglar alarms, learning how to select really good stereo and other consumer items. This project offers several opportunities for hands-on experiences and knowledge you will use in the future. Whether it’s your community, home, family car, or your iPod; energy makes things happen. You will likely experience dramatic changes related to energy during your lifetime. So, understanding the fundamental concepts of energy is important. You will gain knowledge and skills to understand energy development and use, and the impact on economics and the environment which could lead to future careers. 4-H is developing projects to help youth understand the science and technology of energy and energy transformations.

Power of the Wind

The Power of Wind: Energizing Our Future is designed to ignite your learning, curiosity, and leadership in renewable energy. You will explore the wind energy resources in your state and local communities, using hands-on learning to gain a deeper understanding of the science, engineering and technology behind wind energy production. You will be challenged to create service learning opportunities that help others in your community make sense of this new frontier.

Entrepreneurship

State Specialist: Steve Henness

You can do what you love and love what you do by starting your own business as an Entrepreneur! Whether you are interested in starting your own business, or simply wanting to explore what Entrepreneurism is all about, this project will help you get started. Additionally, the Entrepreneurship project works great alongside other 4-H projects you may already be doing such as: crafts, photography, baby-sitting, gardening, woodworking, or raising and selling animals.

State Specialist: Alison Copeland

In this project learn about needs, wants, money personalities and values, goal-setting, communication and ways to save money. You will also learn the benefits and drawbacks of credit, advertising influences, consumer decision-making and how to select financial services. Karst, semi-precious gems, Ozarkite, state mineral, the Viburnum Trend, a rock collection, caves, volcanoes, Elephant Rocks, lapiddary...are just some of the topics that you might pursue in your geology project. Geology is the study of the earth. Much of our knowledge about the earth comes from the rocks, minerals and fossils that surround us.
