Announcing the State 4-H Video Corps!

The 4-H Center for Youth Development, in partnership with Miller Imaging, is pleased to announce the first ever State 4-H Video Corps!  Video Corps is a team of 4-H videographers ages 12 and older from across Missouri, building skills, exploring career possibilities, and capturing the 4-H world through their own personal narrative.

Each month State 4-H Video Corps members find something in their world that relates to 4-H or MU Extension and use their skills to create a short (30-90 second) video that tells the world about the experience.  Long distance travel is not required.  Team members will participate in a special statewide training in mid-June on video filming and editing techniques, either in Columbia or through a local MU Extension telecommunications resource center (TCRC)

Opportunities include:

  • Learning how to use mainstream video editing software!
  • Learning the scripting & storyboarding processes that filmmakers use!
  • Learning video editing skills that make your videos their very best!
  • Meeting professionals in the field of videography and journalism!
  • Behind the scenes access to see production work at selected State Fair shows!
  • Having your videography work featured to a wider audience, through the State 4-H web page!

The Video Corps experience begins during the week after State 4-H Congress in June 2009, with a 2-3 hour statewide Video Corps orientation and training session on shooting and editing techniques.  Next, team members create and submit one video per month by uploading them to a specific web address.  From where they will be selected and featured on the State 4-H web page!  The active portion will continue through December 2009, and members will be eligible to serve as Event Videographers at State 4-H events until the end of State 4-H Congress in June 2010.  Most team communication will take place via the Internet.

Do you have a unique point of view?  Do you have access to a digital video camera or a digital camera that can record video?  Would you like to have your voice be heard in new and interesting ways?  If so, Video Corps may be for you!
