February 2008

Can you imagine the surprise when former 4-H member Amanda Burdick of Willard received a large envelope from the Missouri House of Representatives?

Even more unexpected was what was inside the envelope -- a resolution sponsored by Reps. Sara Lampe (D-138) and Mike McGhee (R-122). The resolution recognized Burdick's achievements in University of Missouri Extenion's 4-H program, including the Orscheln 4-H Scholarship from the Missouri 4-H Foundation.

Orscheln Farm and Home Supply of Moberly provides fifteen $1,000 college scholarships to study agriculture-related fields. Burdickis a sophomore studying animal science at Missouri State University.

As an 11-year 4-H member, Burdick was active in many activities, especially horsemanship projects. As a member of the Stars ‘N’ Steeds Club, known for its horse drill team performances, she marched in the 2004 presidential inauguration parade in Washington, D.C.

Missouri 4-H Foundation support and enhance the activities of 4-H by developing an managing financial resources to advance. This involves active development and management of financial resources to advance the interests of MU Extension's youth development program.
