Missouri Across Missouri (MOVE)

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I want to participate in MOVE but not online.
    What do I do?

No problem! You can keep track of your physical activity on a MyActivity Log paper copy, then ask a 4-H friend or volunteer to register and enter your physical activities online for you.

If you can’t find someone to help you online, contact Alison Copeland at 573-882-8807 or copelanda@missouri.edu or your MU Extension 4-H youth staff at your county MU Extension office.

  1. Participants can sign up as an individual or as part of a team.  How many people can be on a team?
As many as you choose! A team may be a family, club members, the entire club and other 4-H groups. Team awards are calculated by dividing the number of minutes or points by the number of team members, so team size does not matter.

  2. Does a team need to have a leader?
Yes! When registering a team, you will be asked to name a team leader. The team leader does not have to be an adult.  The only responsibility of the team leader is to encourage members to be physically active and communicate with the MOVE program coordinator at the end of the MOVE competition.

  1. I don’t have access to a computer every day. Can I keep track of my daily minutes but only log them once a week?
Of course! Simply total the number of minutes for the week and choose a date to enter them. Do the same the next week….and the next week… and the next week….. For example, if you had physical activity for 5.5 hours in one week, you could just choose one date on the website and enter 5.5 hours.

  1. Are prizes available for the MOVE competition?
Yes!  Participants can sign up year round; however, you must sign up by May 15 in order to receive a MOVE t-shirt and certificate.

During our competition Feb. 1 through May 31, individuals and teams that log the most minutes in each county and the state will also receive awards.

County individual and team awards are valued at $10 and $25, respectively. State individual and team awards are valued at $50 and $250, respectively.

  1. How does MOVE connect with 4-H projects?
Excellent question!  Activity you may already be doing in many 4-H projects can count in MOVE, such as shooting sports, bowling, biking, hiking camping, etc.  You may also choose to create a self-determined 4-H project - MOVE!
