How Will Your Spend Your Summer?

Are you a high school student looking for something exciting to do this summer?  Then SUMMERS @ MIZZOU camp is the place for you!  Come, explore campus life.  Learn about different college majors and career opportunities.

SUMMERS @ MIZZOU Camp Choices

Camps are now available as either residential or day camps.

 

Residential camp fee includes housing (two youth per dorm room)all meals and snacks, and great evening activities on campus and downtown Columbia.  Day camp fee includes lunch and snacks.

 

Details about what to bring to camp and a schedule of events will be mailed to each registered and confirmed participant.  Camps are open to all high school students.  You do not have to be in 4-H to attend.

  Entrepreneurship Camp
MU Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship

 

Do you think you would like to be your own boss? Do you have an idea for a business? This camp will get you started. You will have the chance to use your creativity and knowledge with hands-on activities and get expert advice from professional business advisors who help people throughout Missouri start their own businesses. Find out how you can make your business idea really work and what support you need to launch your idea. Come and have fun exploring your ideas!

 

Entrepreneurship Camp

 

  Camp GEOG
MU Department of Geography

 

Do you like maps? Are you interested in the latest tracking technology such as GPS, GIS and Remote Sensing? Would you like to GeoCache or “mashup” on Google Earth? At Camp GEOG, you will learn how to use these devices, spend time outdoors hunting and collecting geographic information and then use the geographic laboratory to plot your data on maps. Interested? Then show up at N 38° 56.579 W 092° 19.633 and be ready for fun and action! (Department of Geography)

 

 


  High-Tech Health and Fitness Camp
MU Human Environmental Sciences Extension

 

Want to be fit and healthy? Want to help create healthier communities? At this camp, MU experts will help you create your own personal fitness and nutrition plan. You will get to tour one of the nation’s top rated campus recreation centers, MizzouRec; explore an interactive health museum, Columbia’s YouZeum; and learn how Tigers become champions at the Mizzou Athletics Training Complex. Explore cutting-edge technology to measure human performance. You will discover ways to redesign towns and cities using 3-D computer software to make them healthier. Discover careers in nutrition, fitness, exercise physiology, architecture, interior design, and urban planning. (Human Environmental Sciences Extension)
 


  Camp Real Life
MU Department of Human Development and Family Studies

 

Do you like people? Do you have a passion for improving the lives of others? Then Camp Real Life is for you! Through hand-on activities, you will learn about child development, family relationships, and parenting, and how to use this knowledge to help change people’s lives for the better. You will explore both the Adult Day Connection and Child Development Lab which are both teaching and care centers for seniors and children. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the Child Life program which works with children in healthcare settings. You will explore careers in human development that can lead to jobs as an adoption agency counselor, an abuse program director, a family mediator, a child care teacher and more.   Scrub-In to a Health Career Camp
Mid-Missouri Area Health Education Center and MU Partners

 

Have you watched Grey’s Anatomy, ER or Scrubs? Do you like to help others? Are you interested in math and science? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this camp is for you! Spend time exploring different health careers through hands-on experiences, guest speakers, and opportunities at the University Hospital. Discover all the possibilities! (Mid-Missouri Area Health Education Center and MU Partners)
 

Scrub-In to a Health Career Camp


  Spanish Camp
MU Department of Romance Languages

 

Come experience the rich cultural heritage of the Spanish-speaking people and enhance your Spanish language skills (no prior Spanish language experience is necessary to attend this camp). You will participate in language sessions and hands-on cultural experiences. You will develop your own Spanish activity or project to share with others and discover the various cultures of Spanish-speaking countries with games, songs, crafts, ethnic foods, poetry readings, theater skits, and more. (Department of Romance Languages)
