COLUMBIAMo. - Nearly 100 University of Missouri Extension 4-H members participated in the 2008 State 4-H Fashion Revue at the University of Missouri, Sept. 13. MU Extension 4-H'ers attended workshops in which they learned about fashion trends in the past century and how to make an outfit for any occasion. Youth modeled clothing they made or purchased in four categories: Clothes You Make, Clothes You Buy, Knit garments and Crochet garments.

Kristen Ehrich of Laclede, Mo., took top honors in the senior division of Clothes You Buy and received a $50 JCPenney gift card.

Heather Main of Bucklin, Mo., also was recognized for her outstanding job in Clothes You Make with a newly established formal wear award; she received $75.

"State 4-H Fashion Revue provides youth with an opportunity to compete in a positive environment and learn other skills, such as how to communicate well with others, how to be confident in themselves and their abilities, and how to present themselves well in a variety of situations," said Alison Copeland, MU Extension state 4-H youth specialist. "With these skills, MU Extension 4-H members can be successful in everything they do."
